As critical as I am of Peter Jennings, he is to be commended for his interest in religion, and certain sensitivities surrounding religious issues. Unfortunately, his documentary, In Search of Jesus, didn't display these sensitivities, nor did the conservative voice get ample time in that piece. Regardless, Jennings interestingly observes a peculiarity about the mainstream media:

I'm always struck by the fact that there are not enough conservative voices in mainstream broadcasting."

Isn't It IRONIC?

Most liberals support abortion rights, yet are against the death penalty. Death for the innocent, and life for the guilty. Classic liberal logic.

"Abortion is advocated only by persons
who have themselves been born."
Ronald Reagan

ost of the individuals who support abortion today are completely out of touch with morality. One comment from a former Time magazine contributor, Nina Burleigh, particularly illustrates the point when she says she would perform a sexual favor for former President Clinton to "to thank him for keeping abortion legal. . . ," and that American women should also be "lining up" to perform the same immoral act, "to show their gratitude for keeping the theocracy off our backs." This quote has been edited for its offensive content, and is cited from the Media Research Center's Notable Quotables. You can make a difference. You can make a change in this nation. Stand for truth, and allow God to ignite the flame in your heart!

Violence against abortionists, supporters of this "right," and those having or had abortions is absolutely condemned by Memra Online Magazine. Violence against abortionists contradicts the fundamental principle in the Pro-Life movement. God will deal with them personally. Abortionists who were murdered may very well have repented, and become a powerful voice for the Pro-Life stance, and aside from the most important point, the value of life, the anti-abortion militants simply fuel the fire for the abortionists to support their agenda, and undermine the Pro-Life cause. Abortion as cruel and unusual punishment

One of the President’s first actions was designed to appeal to anti-abortion conservatives. The President signed an order re-instating a Reagan-era policy that prohibited federal funding of family planning groups that provided abortion counseling services overseas.
Peter Jennings on World News Tonight- Jan. 22, 2001
"In a moment, President Clinton keeps his word on abortion rights....President Clinton kept a promise today on the 20th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion....Mr. Clinton signed presidential memoranda rolling back many of the restrictions imposed by his predecessors."
Peter Jennings on World News Tonight, Jan. 22, 1993

Abortion Rights Rhetoric
"A Women's Right to Choose"
- What about the baby's right to choose?

"Reproductive Rights"
- Sure. Mothers should have all the "reproductive rights" they want. But don't infringe upon the rights of a newly created, and separate life.

"A Woman's Right to Control Her Own Body"
- Control your own body until the sun goes down, but the baby inside the womb of a mother is a separate body, attached by the umbilical cord. So we should definitely allow the baby to have a right over his or her own body as well.

Core Issue
- The real issue here is that the wording of this rhetoric is tailored for a positive response: America is founded upon rights, and rights are a good thing. "Reproductive rights" sounds good to the American ear. But don't be fooled by the rhetoric.

So great is my veneration for the Bible that the earlier my children begin to read it, the more confident will be my hope that they will prove useful citizens to their country, and respectable members of society. - John Quincy Adams

'. . . if we were in other countries, we would all right now, all of us together, [starts to shout] all of us together would go down to Washington and we would stone Henry Hyde to death! We would stone him to death! [crowd cheers] . . . We would stone Henry Hyde to death and we would go to their homes and we’d kill their wives and their children. We would kill their families. . .
