Lesson Seven - New letters, and Verb & Noun endings

Part A: 3 new letters!

1. like 'x' in taxi.
2. like the German 'ach' in Bach
3. pronounced 'ps' like in 'lips'

Match the numbered Greek words with the alphabetically numbered definitions below:

a. grace (From which means things you get by grace, i.e. gifts, comes the English word 'charismatic - one who believes in spiritual 'gifts.'
b. deep crack in the earth
c. Means 'exact likeness' in Greek (compare with the English word 'character')
d. lie (compare to the English prefix, 'psuedo')
5. e. exodus
f. Messiah (Christ) ( means anoint, pour oil on - the Messiah is therefore the annointed)
g. Canaan
h. soulish (compare with the english 'psychic')
i. time (basis for English word chronology)
j. Cherubim - a type of angel

Part B: Verb Endings

Verb Endings:

When subject is: Singular Plural
1st person (I/we)
2nd person (you/ye - plural of you)
3rd person (he, she, it/they)

Some new words (using the first person singular verb ending)

Using the above table and the new words, match up the meanings:

Example: ........he wants: the ending '' is third person (he/she/it) singular (only one person is referred to)

     a. we say
     b. Disciples call
     c. prostitute wants
     d. you remain
     e. ye say

Part C: Noun Endings

Noun Endings:

Singular Plural
Possessive (use 'of')
Dative (use 'to')

Using the above table, match up the meanings:

     a. to God
     b. of God
     c. word (object)
     d. words (subject)
     e. to words


New word: - elder (compare to the English word Presbyterian)

Translate the Greek word in these Bible verses and say whether it it is singular or plural. Also say whether it is a subject, possessive, dative or object.

1. John wore a garment made from hairs (Matthew 3:4)
2. Glory in the highest... (Luke 2:14)
3. They ordained in every church. (Acts 14:23)
